MKC TOOLS MT2 Extension Socket One of the disadvantages of the 10ER Shopsmith for lathe turning is that the tailstock doesn't have the extending center socket like most other lathes. This limits the room you have for positioning the tool rest for turning if you want to use the tailstock center for stabilizing the work piece, especially on bowls. This extenson socket will help a lot in that respect. It fits the standard 10ER MT2 tailstock socket on your machine and gives you an extra 4" clearance for the tailstock center giving more flexibility for positioning the toolrest and working room for your lathe tools. It will work with any Shopsmith MT2 live or cup center or any other brand of MT2 lathe centers. Not recommended for Mark V.
